DBP Audit Consulting and Compliancy was founded by David B Pinkus, who has been in clinical practice for over 25 years. He knows first hand the day-to-day grind as it relates to insurance reimbursements and denials. The main goal of DBP Audit Consulting and Defense is to assist chiropractors to fight back and take control of their practices once again. There are large amounts of money leaking from practices due to billing, coding, and documentation errors.
Chiropractors today will face greater scrutiny of their billing, coding and documentation. Profiling of practices is a common occurrence, along with post-payment audits. Denial of payments and post payment audits due to lack of medical necessity in the documentation is already sweeping across the country. If you do not think it can happen in your practice, please think again. Paybacks are upwards of $1,000,000.00
Many offices are not billing, coding or documenting correctly, which is costing them money due to lack of information. Physicians were not trained to bill and code; they rely on insurance staff or the chiropractor down the street that might be billing fraudulently.
Dr. Pinkus holds two certifications that separate him from other consulting companies. First he is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC). And a certified billing specialist. He along with his team of health care attorneys has also defended hundreds of chiropractors when they were audited by either Major Medical or Medicare. These certifications have allowed him to review hundreds of files relating to medical necessity issues and proper billing and coding procedures.
When choosing a consultant you want someone with the credentials and information to substantiate their recommendations.
DBP Audit Consulting and Defense is not your typical consulting company. With insurance profiling and post-payment audits being the norm in the healthcare setting, Dr. David Pinkus believes the best offense is a good defense. His consulting expertise is focused on compliant documentation, proper billing and coding procedures. He is concerned that chiropractors across the country are taking the attitude that it will not happen to them. Any one who has or is undergoing a post-payment audit most likely thought the same thing. This is why in addition to clinical practice he is lecturing and writing on compliance related issues in the hope of sparing someone the financial and psychological agonizing experience of an audit.
His services include on-site office consulting to correct your documentation, in order to meet or exceed Evaluation and Management coding along with CMT and Physical medicine coding. His auditing of files has overwhelmingly shown that chiropractors are either under or over coding on these visits. This can cause a loss of potential revenues and or red flags to insurance companies. Under coding is just as bad as up coding for a higher service than performed. By under coding you maybe accused of offering a financial incentive to attract patients to your office. Federal Entitlement programs such as Medicare and Mail Handlers consider this a serious offense.
Do not become another statistic in the American Chiropractor yellow pages.
